  •  A 23-year-old G3P3 female experiences profuse hemorrhage upon delivery of the placenta following vaginal delivery of her third child. Blood pressure falls to 90/60 mm Hg and pulse elevates to 115 beats per minute. Extremities are cold to touch.

    • consequent lack of separation of placenta from uterus after birth

    • placenta previa

  • Symptoms
    • massive bleeding after delivery
Treatment
  • Surgical
    • hysterectomy
      • may be necessary to control bleeding
