Overview
  • Purpose
    • analyze and sort cells based on cell characteristics
  • Mechanism
    • specific antibody conjugated to a fluorescent dye for antigen of interest added
      • can use multiple antibodies but must use a different color for each
        • eg. antigen A = red, antigen B= green
    • cells pass through a "sorter" one-at-a-time
    • detector analyzes the cells that pass
    • graph created of cells that express either A, B, or both or neither based on specific color signal
