      • chromosomal abnormalities
        • e.g. Robertsonian translocation and non-disjunction
    • 2nd trimester
      • maternal bicornuate uterus
        • embryologic abnormality with incomplete fusion of paramesonephric ducts
      • uterus growth is limited
